More about the challenge topic, goal and organiser

Sustainability is increasingly an issue for the younger generation’s future and teenagers are starting to mobilize, usually in forms of demonstrations. However, there is not an organized structure inside the Greek educational system that supports awareness of climate issues, and it seems to be left to the individual teachers' initiatives. Let’s envision all possible futures, and reimagine our present world together.

Schools Foster Circular Education Connection

View individual opinions in the Futures Canvas by filtering for the sector "Hopeful Dreams".
  • Close connection between schools and neighborhoods in an efficient system catches scientists' attention.
  • Circularity education programs surpass robotics as popular extracurricular activity for parents.
  • Schools serve as citizen science hubs, collecting environmental data utilized by local councils for informed decisions.

Schools and their surrounding neighborhoods have established a close connection in an efficient system that has caught the attention of scientists. In an interesting shift, circularity education programs have become more popular than robotics as the extracurricular activity of choice for parents. Schools now serve as hubs for citizen science, collecting environmental data on a daily basis as part of their science curriculum. This valuable data is then utilized by local councils to make informed decisions regarding environmental policies at a hyper local level. The dedication of past generations to educate young children about environmental issues has yielded positive results, leading to a significant reduction in wasteful practices. These developments highlight the potential for schools to play a pivotal role in creating a sustainable and environmentally conscious society.
